PURCELLVILLE, VIRGINIA-- After splitting their first two home contests of the season, the Purcellville Cannons fell victim to mother nature as their Sunday affair at Casey Field against the Covington Lumberjacks was postponed. No make-up date has been announced as of yet.
The Cannons can keep their bags unpacked as of now, they will be back in action at Fireman's Field on Tuesday against the defending VBL-champion Strasburg Express and again on Wednesday when they play host to the Harrisonburg Turks.
Purcellville will hope to change their fortunes against the Express. Last season, the Cannons posted a 1-5 record against Strasburg. However, in the last three seasons, these two teams have battled to a stalemate, with each club winning nine of 18 contests and Strasburg holding a slight advantage in total runs scored at 91 to 83.
Through three games this season, Cannons' leadoff man DeAires Moses leads the team with a .417 batting average, which is also good for 10th overall in the VBL.
First pitch for Tuesday's matchup with Strasburg is scheduled for 7 o'clock, with gates opening at 5:30.
